Sans Pics

Sorry- no pics tonight, just a quick review of our day today. I'll have more pics and vids tomorrow night.

Sundays are always our favorite days. We always start the day with coffee and pancakes (pancakes are the Sunday treat). After breakfast we got ready (OK, it was almost 9:45 by the time we were ready, and we were up at 6:15. Not exactly breaking speed records) and headed out with Jen from MN and her daughter Gabby. We put on the walking shoes because we knew we'd be putting on some miles today. However, the good news is that there is a stroller here at the hotel which is a double stroller, but it has bigger wheels than ours and is a front to back, not a side by side like ours. We've been using it for a couple days now, and it's much more maneuverable than ours. Even Beck likes it, and will be able to use it to push the kids around once I'm gone.

As is the case every Sunday, today was Cyclovia, where they shut down one side of many of the busiest roads so that bicycles, runners, and walkers (and the occassional roller blader) can get some exercise without fear of getting run over. It always makes eating that one extra pancake seem OK, because you know you're going to walk it off later on.

Our first stop was La Fontana. This is a market smack dab in the middle of a huge residential complex- not sure if they're apartments or condos, but it's a beautiful place made completely of brick, and they have vine growing many places and add in a lot of flora to make it beautiful. The market is a little more upscale than the other ones we go to, but we didn't see anything we needed there.

So from there we walked to Santa Barbera (where we saw the processional on Good Friday). There is a certain wood-door thing that Beck wants to get for our house, and so she wanted to see if we could find that again (sorry for the lack of a description. You know how design stuff is- unless it has a practical purpose I don't know how to describe it better than a wood-door thing). We found what she wanted but now she needs to think about where to put it in the house, and not buying it today will give her a good reason to go back to the market next Sunday. That's how we think around here- "What can I put off/waste time doing/not do right now so I can do it later on?" It's very different than at home where you have a purpose doing everything so you don't waste time. Here you try to waste time so that you don't run out of things to do. Crazy, huh? Anyway, Jen found some shoes she wanted for Gabby, so after that we headed back to the hotel (the trip took about 3-1/2 hours- it was a great workout!).

Once back at the hotel we had some lunch (empanadas- I love them!) and then Will, Ally, and I took naps. After that we just hung out (it was raining by then. The mornings have been OK, but the afternoons have been junky. No worries though!). Will had a bit of a rough day- he's really teething like crazy right now, which isn't fun for the little guy! We're praying for a full night's sleep tonight- they just don't come around much these days!

Nothing crazy planned for the rest of our time here. Just some little things here and there, and still coveting all of your prayers for a quick Sentencia for Beck (especially), Will to continue to get healthier, Ally to continue to "hang in there" as she adjusts to being a Big Sis, and that we soak in all we can in this time together. It certainly is a tremendous blessing, and we wouldn't trade it for the world!
