Sorry, maybe that's a cruel joke. Just a glimpse into what we did today, nothing more.
What I mean in the title is that we had a chance to go to Panaca, which is a farm outside of Bogota. They have a lot of animals there, and we learned quickly that you need to watch where you walk:
Most of you know that I grew up outside the city, and my Aunt Joan and Uncle Ron owned a dairy farm where I spent a lot of time and worked through high school. I ended up marrying a city girl (see, oil and water do mix) and live in Grand Rapids, but my heart has always been in the country (and now Ally wants a horse or a cow or a pig. Hmmmm, which one do we choose?)
So today was really cool for me- it was a chance to hang out with some stinky animals; something I don't get to do except when I'm changing one of Will's diapers.
Panaca is really cool- there were all kinds of animals there, and many different variety of each. Me, I am prone to like the cows the best, so I have a lot of useless pics of bulls and cows (most of which won't be posted here). But here's a taste:
Ahhhh, the good life. I miss it. But I don't miss the smell of pigs, and Ally wasn't impressed, either:
She did, however, have fun playing tug-of-war with the goats when she got to feed them a bottle of milk:
There is a lot of things to do and see there. One of the coolest things is watching the pig races:
And the winner is.....:
After the pig races we grabbed some lunch outside, went and saw the dogs (yes, dogs on a farm. That was a first for all of us), then over to the birds (turkeys, chickens, etc.), the rabbits, and lastly the horses. By that time, the kids were pretty much shot, so I carried Ally (note the sexy farmer's tan. Just like old times!):
One of the things Beck loved is that it's an organic farm:
It was a beautiful trip, and many thanks to Jen from Minnesota for coming along, and to Jhonny our taxi driver for a safe delivery and return (although we had 2 really close calls today. It was a zoo in Bogota!):
The kiddos were certainly ready for some rest on the way home:
Once we got to Hotel Paris, we worked on walking with Will. He's getting super close! Check out the Michael Jordanesque determination:
It was a great day- we had a really good time as a family and with some friends, and are blessed to be here all together. I will be staying now until the 18th, so we have one more week together. Then only a few days after that the others from our families will be coming in to spend time with Beck after I leave. We're praying for Sentencia soon after that so we can get everyone home and introduce you all to Will!
Much Love-
Scott, Beck, Ally, and Will
Looks like you're having a good time over there. Keep up the good work and know that we're praying for you!! Daniel Bud
