Round Three! Bogota Beckons

On Friday night at around 7 p.m., I received an email. That email stated that the US Embassy advised that our approval is in Bogota, and now we can travel! At this point, it appears that we have a presentation date of the 15th, with the time on that day TBD. So here we go!

So I had a little talk with the kids about how exciting it will be to get on a plane and head to Bogota! Although, I did have to make sure that they understand the consequences of not behaving while on the plane:

So we're feverishly packing and organizing and making lists and crossing things off those lists and making more lists and... well, you get the point. When you don't really think you'll be traveling this year, and then all of a sudden- BOOM! Everything changes. But, as we are continually reminded:

"As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him." 2 Samuel 22:3

Such a great verse when things may not go exactly as planned, which is often the case in adoption. His way IS perfect, and that is so comforting. He's got everything in control, regardless of whether we see it at the present time or not. And His plan is revealed in His timing, and oftentimes we don't recognize or see it until later. And then when we do, it's kind of like the V-8 commercial where the people hit themselves in the forehead, kind of like, "Huh! NOW I get it!" And that is why we trust in Him, regardless of the present situation.

So, specific prayer requests:

1. Safe travels. If we do end up leaving on the 14th (which is the least expensive), that means we need a smooth day of traveling in order to receive Max on the next day. And since it's a FULL day of traveling, please pray for patience on the part of the kids (OK, us too).

2. Health and safety for Max.

3. A quick process once we're there. I will be taking Will home with me on Thanksgiving weekend, while Ally and Beck stay. We are booking their tickets for a return trip on the 17th of December, but if they aren't able to leave before then, the courts shut down on December 13th or 14th, and don't open up until mid-January again. This is a chance we've decided to take, and there's no guarantee Beck will be home for the holidays. So please pray for an expeditious process.

4. Health for the rest of our family. It seems we always seem to catch a little bug when we're there, so please pray for our health as well.

I may or may not get another post up before we leave, so keep your eyes peeled, or look for updates on Facebook (which is much easier to do a quick update on). Feel free to leave comments as well, and if you're having issues doing so (I've heard of a couple people who've had problems), shoot myself or Becky an email and I'll look into it.

The weather is calling for low to mid 60s, often the case in Bogota, which is high in the mountains. But there's just something about the city and the country which you can't describe over a blog post or email. The experience is always great because the people are so warm and friendly. We're looking forward to doing it once again!

We are also taking donations for Los Pisingos, if you are interested. You can write checks out Los Pisingos, and those checks are tax deductible. So if you'd like to support a great orphanage, please do so! Info can be found here: http://lospisingos.com/html/index.html

Getting close now! Can't wait to travel, and we hope you'll follow along!
